Wellington College China

Ms Joy Qiao is the founder and Chair of Governors of Huili Education and Wellington College China. She has been devoted to international education in China for many years and is committed to fostering exchanges and partnerships with the UK. WCC currently educates approximately 5000 pupils and all the  schools have bespoke, premium campuses with world-class facilities, and deliver a holistic Wellington education with excellent academic outcomes.

There are currently 6 WCI schools located across the cities of Tianjin, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nantong. In partnership with WCI Wellington College China (WCC) opened its inaugural school, Wellington College International Tianjin, in August 2011. Wellington College China continued to grow with the opening of Wellington College International Shanghai in 2014 and the creation of WCC Huili.  This resulted in the opening of Huili Nursery Shanghai in 2016. Further schools followed with Huili School Shanghai, Huili Nursery Hangzhou, Huili School Hangzhou and Wellington College International Hangzhou all opening in August 2018. Then Huili School Nantong, Wellington College China’s flagship boarding school, opened in September 2022.  

WCC has also founded the Institute of Learning, which was established to provide professional learning solutions that empower educators and leaders to deliver an education that is at the forefront of innovation and development. A major area of focus for the IOL is bilingual English/Mandarin teaching, but other recent areas include independent learning and e-learning.

Wellington College International Thailand

Wellington College Bangkok was opened in 2018 by our partners Gurdist Chansrichawla and Dr. Darika Lathapipat.  Both come from strong education backgrounds and have a deeply impressive commitment to education quality and the values of Wellington College.

Dr. Darika Lathapipat (‘Praew’) is the Vice President for Finance and Administration and a member of the Executive Board of Directors at Dhurakij Pundit University. She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from Imperial College London, and a Doctorate in Information and Technology from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Gurdist ‘Chan’ Chansrichawla is a Senator in the Thai Parliament, a Member of the Senate Economic Finance and Banking Standing Committee, and Member of the Foreign Committee. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Thai-Swiss Parliamentary Friendship Group and Secretary General of the Thai-Portuguese Parliamentary Friendship Group

In a competitive market and in its short history, Wellington College Bangkok has been awarded the COBIS Patron’s Accreditation (the first school ever to achieve this within its first year of existence) and Membership of CIS.

Wellington College International India 

In September 2023 Wellington College Pune opened in partnership with Mr. Anuj Aggarwal with his brother Amit Agarwal and is intended to be the first of several schools planned across India from this strong partnership.   

Mr Anuj Aggarwal is deeply associated with the cause of education and is credited as one of the leading pioneers in this field in India. Mr Aggarwal and Unison Group are establishing institutions that transform the educational landscape of India and will influence and nurture the country’s youth for decades to come. 

Wellington College International Pune is a coeducational day and boarding school for ages 2-18, within a campus designed by award-winning British architects. The school will follow the English National Curriculum culminating in the IB Diploma, for which Wellington College UK is amongst the leading academic schools globally. WCI Pune will also offer unparalleled facilities and excellence in sports, music, and the arts.  

Wellington College International Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia

Wellington College announced in 2022 that it will be setting up schools in three Southeast Asian  countries through a regional partnership with Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.

WCI Regional Management, Mr Lim’s company, announced that it has signed a master license agreement to establish premium quality Wellington College International schools for  3-18 year olds in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The new schools will share the values, ethos, enduring quality and ambition of Wellington College, while combining the very best of British education with regional and pan-Asian  education strengths and traditions.

Plans are to accommodate up to 2,000 students in each school, offering early years, preparatory  and senior school programmes following the English National Curriculum and culminating in  the IB Diploma.
