The Wellington College: Oxbridge and Ivy League Success for Wellington Students

Despite the uncertain start to the year, 2021 has already brought reasons to celebrate for upwards of 20 Wellington College students who have received offers from Oxford, Cambridge and Ivy League universities. Matthew Oakman, Deputy Head (Academic) had this to say about their achievement:

“In such an enormously difficult year for all students, 17 members of our Upper Sixth year group have shown amazing resilience, tenacity and determination to gain offers at Oxford and Cambridge. The offers cover a broad range of subject areas from Psychological and Behavioural Sciences to History of Art; all of the successful students have excelled themselves in perhaps one of the most competitive years for entry that we have known. We are incredibly proud of them.

In addition, eleven students have already had their offers for US universities with five gaining Ivy League places at Brown, Pennsylvania, Harvard, Cornell and Yale, with other offers including UCLA Berkeley, Georgetown and Carnegie Mellon. With the bulk of the US university offers still to come in at Easter, this year group has certainly already excelled themselves.”

Congratulations to all involved, not just for all their hard work and achievements, but also for reminding us all that there is much to look forward to on the horizon.
